“It is the truth universally acknowledged that a single man in a possession of large fortune must be in want of a wife” - Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austin. This was the first sentence of her absolute favourite novel of all times. She first learned about life from books and novels and travelled on wonderful journeys with the characters of her favourite stories. This was her safe place, the safe haven: no room for any white noise and it was just her, the words and silence. Little did she know that the life will turn upside down with the appearance of social media and she will blinded by the images and stories that are not published in hard covers but available to her on a shiny screen.
Living in the shadow of her own insecurities, she has never truly opened up to anyone about her life, her upbringing and has never told anyone the full story. Sure, her friends new parts of her story but no one ever held all the pieces of the puzzle to put them together into a bigger picture. Just as anyone out there, she faced life with a smile and took one day at a time, all the while hiding her story from the rest of the world. They say that if you repeat something constantly, at some point you will start believing that it is actually true. She has been told on numerous occasions that she did not fit in with the society, that she was an awkward person and that she had still a long way to go to become someone in her life - and so the day has come when she believed in this story and stopped believing in herself. Throughout the years, she has been cornered by situations where she could never win: not because she was could not fight for herself but because she stood there in screaming silently, as no one would care to listen. With time, she got used to living such life and she would put a happy mask in the mornings and hide her bitter tears behind a beautiful smile.
